LEMONS

“When life gives you lemons make lemonade.”

The phrase was coined by Hubbard but in fact Dale Carnegie was the first to use this phrase in his book How to Stop Worrying and Start Living. His version states “If you have a lemon, make lemonade.”

This is a proverbial expression used to inspire optimism and promote a can-do attitude.

It appears to be a simple phrase. A lemon is a simply single, small thing but when you squeeze it and a little flavor to it, a wonderful, delicious something is made.

Parables can be argued against one another, as in “Look before you leap” vs “He who hesitates is lost.”

What would you say is your favorite go to parable?

ILLUSIONS

The illusion that if I no longer thought of them, that if I pretended they didn’t exist the way they have done me, I would no longer feel the pain of losing the ones I once called family.

The illusion that my tears would fade and the nightmares would cease to exist.

The illusion that the ones who called you their daughter and their sister meant more and that a mere argument would never take that away.

The illusion that I actually belonged to a family and would always be surrounded by love would no longer exist.

THE ILLUSION that someone would be proud to call me one of their own and never choose one over the other.

The illusion that love will get me through. Standing amongst one’s I used to adore and relish in their company suddenly fading and their faces are no longer their. It’s bodies standing their, no faces, nothing I can recognize any longer.

The illusion that I have to walk alone. Make it in this world all on my own.

It’s no longer an illusion. I stood alone, I faced my nightmares head on and now..I can say I did it! The illusion that I need you, I can now laugh at!

ECOSYSTEM

Positive growth.

Nature, in the common sense, refers to essences unchanged by man; space, the air, the river, the leaf. Art is applied to the mixture of his will with the same things, as in a house, a canal, a statue, a picture. But his operations taken together are so insignificant, a little chipping, baking, patching, and washing, that in an impression so grand as that of the world on the human mind, they do not vary the result.

Undoubtedly we have no questions to ask which are unanswerable. We must trust the perfection of the creation so far, as to believe that whatever curiosity the order of things has awakened in our minds, the order of things can satisfy. Every man’s condition is a solution in hieroglyphic to those inquiries he would put.

Irritation

Hello friends…I’m going to use this one post to do a rant of my own.

Those of you who watch regular TV and are limited to Netflix as a treat because of poor Wi-Fi signal, (ME)….

The amount of Social Security commercials has really gotten out of hand. It’s to a point of screaming at the TV…WE GET IT ALREADY! STOP! PLEASE!

I accepted it and understood it when it was enrollment period but now it’s like harassment. If they wanted to call you they would. Do you think we are all idiots and don’t know how to decide what we want without you shoving it in our faces every two minutes?

Ok, I’m done! I had to say it. If you are as frustrated as I am give a clap.

OBSTACLES

As a new writer I struggle with certain aspects of writing. My biggest obstacle to tackle is the art of showing instead of telling.

I don’t want to provide you with too much of my book in the pages section titled Upcoming Book because in the end I hope you will buy it when its finished,, but if you were to take a look at some of the chapters you would see that it is of coarse the first draft.

When you first started writing was there an area in which you struggled the most?

Was there a specific class or book that helped you?

I recently have reminded myself to use my five senses and observe the things around me.

I have recently reminded myself that I don’t have to be perfect the first time around because there is always room for growth and change.

Winter Blues

Winter Blues…Fact or Fiction?

For me it is definitely fact from time to time. Today the weather where I live is rainy and quite depressing yet the temperature is perfect.

I have watched may family members struggle with the Winter Blues this year. Is it due to Covid or just the weather or a combination of both, I’m not quite sure.

I am one who love the outdoors. Taking my computer out and writing is something I love to do. Working in the garden and watching the flowers go from a mere inexistant bud to a beautiful flower that screams hello.

I’m reminded of the summer months here. It gets so hot your looking for air co conditioning every where you go and wishing for the cooler weather to come.

There doesn’t seem to be a balance between the hot and cold months. You’re either hot or cold. The moments of just the right temperature seem to be fewer and far between.

What gets you through? Is The Winter Blues fact ormyth for you?

READING AND WRITING

What is the connection between reading and writing?

I never was one for Journaling but reading has always been a passion of mine.

I always, no matter what genre I was reading at the time, wanted to be a great author.

Now that I have embraced this endeavor, I find that reading and writing definitely go hand in hand. The ability to articulate words, realizing all the sights, sounds, and smells around you that you once took for granted and just plain out ignored.

It’s as if being born without your eyes or the ability to smell or hear. An invention was made and the loss you once had is given back to you. That invention being books.

I know that striving to be the greatest or as great as the writers of our past is a far reach, but, writing a book that is good enough for just one person to buy and find amazing isn’t too much to strive and hope for.

My eyes are opened wide, my ears are tuned in, and my nose is smelling everything it can possibly smell.

I will be uploading two more chapters today of my first draft in the pages section titled Upcoming Book.

WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED?

If there were one thing you could go back and change in your writing/art career what would it be?

I would have pursued my writing career earlier. Taken every class I possibly could. I focused my younger years on raising my children and trying to find love.

What do you know now that you didn’t know when you first started?

I knew it would be hard, but how hard, came as a shock.

If a writing prompt were started, would you participate by adding a line or two just to see where this prompt progresses into?

IRONY

I found it quite funny that when I opened my eyes this morning the dread of having to do the same thing as yesterday and the day before that was just like the movie Groundhog Day.

Let’s don’t forget it is definitely Groundhog Day!

He saw his shadow this morning and according to the myth there will be six more weeks of winter.

Do you tend to believe in this? Many prefer to look at The Farmers Almanac instead. Is this a method you tend to refer to?

I mean seriously, if it’s sunny outside he is going to see his shadow and when it’s raining or cloudy he won’t. How stupid do they think we are?

Do you feel as if you’re living the same day over and over again? I for one certainly do!!!

I try to shake it up from time to time, changing the type of music I listen to or the order in which I do the things that need to be done. But, it’s still the same things over and over. Riding a ferris wheel that never stops.

I still can’t help but laugh that these thoughts hit me on Groundhog Day!

NO

I find that saying the word no to the ones I love is absolutely impossible. Finding time to devote to myself and the things I love has dwindled down to mere minutes.

A long hot bath, a book I can’t put down, or just a few moments to close my eyes seems completely impossible.

Helping others is what I do. How do you turn that instinct off? Do I devote certain days to just myself or are there enough hours in the day to do everything?

Trying to go to sleep, completely exhausted from the day devoted to others, inspiration hits and I see that one detail that I needed to move my book forward. Do I get up and write or do I close my eyes again and just let sleep consume me.??

Time and the word No seem to go hand in hand.
